BIO – Barbara A. Levenson

 

Barbara Levenson serves as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of HR LEVENSON. In this capacity she brings her organizational skills and focus on details from her more than 40 years as a registered pharmacist and leadership in many professional community, and non-profit organizations in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and in San Luis Obispo County, California.

 

Barbara received her Bachelors of Pharmacy degree form South Dakota State University, and her Masters of Pharmacy degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Prior to her relocation to California in 1983, Barbara was on the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and served as a pharmacist at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, and Eye and Ear Hospital in Pittsburgh. Following her retirement after 27 years at Atascadero State Hospital in Atascadero, California, Barbara has volunteered her services to groups including the Community Foundation of San Luis Obispo County, the San Luis Obispo County Behavioral Health Board, Friends of the Arroyo Grande Library, Central Coast Circle of Friendship Bridge (supporting entrepreneurship and healthcare of women in Guatemala, and the San Luis Obispo Long-Term Care Ombudsman program. Each represents Barbara’s life-long interest in mental health and education. Even prior to retirement, Barbara voluntarily served humane causes at The Wellness Kitchen and Resource Center in Templeton, California, and she was a member of the Flying Samaritans, a team of medical professionals that flew to Mexico, and went to other remote areas of the world to provide free medical services to the needy. For this, Barbara was named “UNSUNG HERO – 2014” by The Tribune, San Luis Obispo County’s newspaper.

 

Born and Raised in Yankton, South Dakota, Barbara now resides in Pismo Beach, California.
