RELEASING JOHN’S ASHES
Following a next-morning breakfast, again hosted by Mark Hamilton and Juan Francisco Contreras-Gomez at their home, a solemn spreading of John’s ashes ceremony was held in the hills of Palm Springs behind the home that John and Mark had shared for many years. Each participant had the opportunity to scatter John’s ashes from a martini glass, symbolic of John’s favorite cocktail.
Tom Kreager, Professor of Glass Art at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska, is the talented creator of these unique memorial glass orbs. Each contains John’s signature blue color, as well as a small amount of his ashes, in vibrant loops and swirls. The video clips show the process used in making the pieces.
